The Private IQ was founded in 2024 in Guelph, Ontario, by a team of AI engineers and privacy advocates who shared a common frustration: businesses needed powerful AI, but existing solutions required sending sensitive data to US clouds — creating legal, security, and sovereignty risks.
Quebec's Law 25 was coming into effect, PIPEDA requirements were tightening, and yet most AI platforms were built in Silicon Valley with no regard for Canadian data laws.
So we built our own.
